Peer conversations are even held private from other peer volunteers. After contacting a peer, don’t be surprised if they act as if they don’t know you should you happen to run into them at the airport.
ALPA Canada continues to engage with Transport Canada on ways to improve the processing time of individual medical files.
CASP will assist you by reviewing your case, and advising on potential issues, missing documents, medical conditions, etc. that may require more time for review by TRANSPORT CANADA. Such review and assistance prior to submission of information to Transport Canada can help your case be addressed most efficiently; however, we are unable to intervene to accelerate file processing. TC determines how to use its resources to make appropriate decisions in the interest of aviation safety.
We emphasize working closely with your personal CAME to directly manage your file.

The role of the aeromedical team is to be a resource to your aeromedical needs. It is a mandatory requirement for pilots in Canada to self-report health conditions that may impair/inhibit their ability to safely function in their flight crew role. It is also mandatory for any physician or optometrist to report a pilot to Transport Canada if they fill feel there is a threat to public safety. It is also required for pilots to declare to their physician/optometrist that they hold a medical certificate.
Each file/diagnosis is unique, and carefully reviewed by individual Regional Medical Officers. Subsequently, if required, a team of specialist consultants at the Aviation Medical Review Board(AMRB) may also be tasked with reviewing a file. Due to the complexity and volume of cases, it is impossible to predict how long processing times will take. All stakeholders are striving to address your file in a timely fashion, but safety is the number one priority.
